Dear Director,

San Antonio has long been regarded as one of America’s top travel destinations. Visitors to this city, founded by Spanish missionaries, experience thrilling theme parks and landmarks filled with historical significance while surrounded by natural beauty. The city’s exciting blend of cultures offers all the ingredients for a memorable visit to one of America’s most unique cities.

The Tower of the Americas was the theme structure of Hemisfair ’68,” The Confluence of Civilizations in the Americas”.  The 750-foot observation tower, the tallest observation deck in Texas, features stunning panoramic views. The Alamo, a former Spanish Mission built in 1718, welcomes more than 4 million visitors each year.

El Mercado (Market Square) is the largest Mexican market in the U. S. and a destination for authentic food and Mariachi music. More than 100 stores can be found grouped around a colorful outdoor plaza, filled with items imported from Mexico. The San Antonio Missions National Historical Park includes multiple walled compounds where diverse communities lived and worshipped, beginning in 1718. Catholic priests established the missions during Spanish colonial times and the churches remain active parishes today.  The 1929 Majestic Theater is a National Historic Landmark and home to Broadway in San Antonio and other live entertainment.
